Hindi Typing Fonts & Layouts

If you are appearing for UP Police ASI, Bihar Civil Court, or CRPF HCM, you must know your keyboard layout.

  • Remington Gail (Mangal): Used in CRPF HCM and some UP State exams. It mimics the old mechanical typewriter layout.
  • Inscript (Mangal): The standard government layout. Used in SSC and most Central Govt exams. It is scientific and easier to learn.
  • Kruti Dev: An older font used in some state-level exams (like Rajasthan LDC), but mostly replaced by Mangal now.

How is Typing Speed Calculated?

Gross Speed Formula

(Total Characters / 5) ÷ Time (mins)

Example: 1750 chars in 10 mins = (1750/5)/10 = 35 WPM.

Net Speed Formula

Gross Speed - (Errors / Time)

Most exams like SSC prioritize Net Speed over Gross Speed.
